City Profile

The City of Pinckneyville operates under a commission form of Government. The mayor and 4 City Council members are elected at-large for four- year terms in non-partisan elections. The City Council acts as the policy making body for City Government. The Mayor is the official head of the City and with the City Council consent, is responsible for appointing members to the various boards, commissions, and committees of the City.

The City employs approximately 28 full-time employees and 16 part-time and seasoned employees. Services provided by the City include Police Protection and Fire Protection, Development Services, Public Works, and Public Library. The City also operates Water and Sanitary Sewer operations, Natural Gas Distribution System, the City Pool, Lake, and Park.

The City has several boards and commissions that allow citizen participation in local Government. Citizens who wish to volunteer their time and participate in local Government should call the Mayor's Office at 618-357-8927.

Regular City Council meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month at 6pm, at the City Hall. If you wish to speak at a council meeting please print and complete the attached form and return it to the City Hall 5 days prior to the council meeting at which you wish to speak.
